These beautiful display pieces were ethically sourced from Russia - they are Type III (regular grade) Shungite.

All types of shungite are incredibly rare! Type III contains 30-50% carbon. Authentic shungite is exclusively found and sourced from the Republic of Karélia, Russia and has been dated to be over 2 billion years old - made up of some of the earliest life on Earth.

Shungite is highly sought after for it's purported cleansing properties, like creating an energetic shield from EMF. Like black tourmaline, shungite is also associated with a sense of powerful grounding energy, connecting us not only to Earth energy but also to the energy of ancient life on this planet. It's believed to cleanse the subtle energetic body, root us firmly in our own power, and remove an harmful, lingering, or negative energies that come into our realm.

Because shungite is so porous, even with polished pieces you can expect some level of carbon dust - this is totally normal! If you're planning to use shungite for it's purification properties, it's recommended to rinse the stone briefly under running water to remove any impurities first.
